Breast Lift Without Implants

There are various ways women can augment the appearance of their breasts. One way is a breast lift with implants, another way is a breast lift without implants. Implants are added to increase breast size, whereas a simple breast lift -- or mastopexy -- removes excess skin in order to lift breasts that sag or droop.

Sagging breasts are a common occurrence, especially as women age or if they breast feed. The fact that, every year, breast lifting is one of the most popular elective surgeries in the nation is testimony to how many women are plagued by sagging breasts. This affliction is characterized by too much skin on the breast and nipples that typically point downward. This is a natural result of the aging process or the strain of breast feeding. However, it certainly isn't aesthitcally pleasing. A breast lift can correct the unsightly appearance of one's breasts.

breast lift without implants is a surgical procedure that involves removing the excess breast tissue and skin, moving the nipple up to a new position and suturing the breast. This doesn't greatly effect breast size. There are two different types of breast lifts: A concentric lift, for smaller, droopier breasts, and the anchor-shaped lift, for larger breasts. The procedure can be completed in a single outpatient visit and typically takes 1-3 hours.

If breast size isn't a concern, a breast lift without implants is an ideal alternative to saline or silicone implants. This is because a breast lift is simply a corrective measure and doesn't carry with it the risks associated with breast implants, such as infection, rupturing or capsular contracture. However, there are certain risks associated with a breast lift without implants. Scarring can be an issue, although modern breast augmentation procedures typically have minimal scarring. Also, the scars that are visible aren't particularly conspicuous. Loss of nipple sensation can also occur, but this is a temporary side-effect of the surgery.

The costs of breast lifting and breast enlargement with implants can be comparable. However, so much depends on a variety of factors, such as the location of the surgery and the region where it is performed. That being said, a typical breast lift averages 7,000-9000 dollars, whereas a breast enlargement with implants averages 5,000-15,000 dollars. So it is likely you can find a breast lift procedure cheaper than a procedure fitting you with breast implants.

Breast enlargement is an effective way to reverse the aging process and return sagging breasts to their more youthful and healthy appearance. Doing so without breast implants is, overall, a healthier alternative to implants. However, a lift will not keep your breasts firm forever. As the aging process continues, or if one nurses again, the breasts will likely continue to sag. That's why, even though breast lifting is effective, it is important to keep your goals realistic.
